25 Dot Poo Kolam

To draw Kolam, dots are the foundation but during my childhood days I always had a trouble in arranging the dots in straight line so I always seek my mom’s help for dots.

There are two ways we can arrange dots.
  1. Straight Dots ( Ner Pulli)
  2. Between Dots ( Santhu Pulli)

Miffy Crochet

Everyone in their childhood days like different cartoons characters, even I have. My favourite character is “MIFFY”. How cutely MIFFY and FRIENDS would dance in that show. MIFFY will look like a small rabbit. I love a lot that character so here I tried a small and Cute MIFFY using Crochet. Instead of Plastic eyes I used the bindi for the MIFFY eyes.

I found this pattern in RAVERLY.COM

Crochet Yellow Angry Bird

It was one fine day when one of my friends asked me to do a Yellow angry bird. I was not confident and had no idea on how to do that. Finally arrived at Google to get an idea and chosen Crochet to start with the angry bird.

Every innovation needs a starting point. For me it’s my friend wish. I started my First crochet toy handwork and it turned out to be a good one

The mistake I have done is I stuffed the angry bird with Sponge. After few days’ sponge got shrunk and friends try to stuff your crochet toys with Waste cloth.

Colourful Stocking Flower

Hi all. Here comes an innovative way of gifting your dear one on their special days.

Instead of simply buying gifts from Shops for your dear one’s special days, you can still make their memorable by your own hand work which they can preserve it forever as a sweet memory. I always gift my hand work to my friends. Here comes a colourful stocking flower. It’s my first stocking flower craft.

I used Buttons and Beads for the stocking flower. Instead of buying a flower vase or basket try to reuse the things which are available at your home. I used the glass candle bowl to arrange my flowers and I wrote my friend name on the vase using the glass painting. You can use any empty tin and water bottles to arrange it.

23 Dot Poo Kolam

Kolam (drawing designs at the entrance of the house) is very famous in South India. Kolam is called as Rangoli in Maharastra, Muggulu in Andra Pradesh, Hase in Karnataka and Chowk Poorna in Uttra Pradesh. Kolam is a tradition followed not only to decorate the entrance of the house but also as a food to provide to the small creatures like Ants, Birds, etc., that’s why the kolam maavu is made of rice flour.

Kolam is usually drawn at the entrance during the sunrise and sunset. Woman gets up early morning before the sunrise sweeps the entrance, sprinkles the water mixed with cow dung to set the mud and draws Kolam. If you look at the other side of it, it is an exercise by itself where one needs to bend, stretch legs and hands to draw Kolam and as we all know the fresh air in the early morning is very good for health.

We can see beautiful and colourful kolam in South India during Pongal, Deepavali, New Year and margali month festivals.

People will use natural colour powder, flowers to decorate and to add more beauty to the Kolam, but nowadays people uses artificial colours to fill the Kolam. Please avoid and follow the traditional way.

In the modernized world we are missing the Kolam it has been replaced with ready stickers and paints. Muddy sand floor replaced the tiles and cement floor.

Please preserve our tradition may I request Dear Mom's teach children about Kolam and other tradition to past it on to the future generation.
